Water Digest Water Awards (WDWA), a platform to honour and appreciate outstanding environmental initiatives and achievements, was announced in September 2011. As the country's first Environmental Awards, WDWA has been created to awaken the eco-consciousness in every India industry and society. The ultimate aim is to motivate behavioural change and increase awareness in relation to the protection and preservation of our environment.
The concept of eco-consciousness reaches out to all the people in India, to enthuse them to preserve the country and its environment for the future generations. The conservation water resources is indeed a given must. Combined with this is the fact that air, water, and land pollution are also significant environmental issues.
Water Digest Water Awards were set-up in 2006 to honor distinguished work carried out by various companies/NGOs/Individuals in order to treat/ recycle & conserve water. The award is supported by UNESCO & Ministry of Water Resources of India, the key focus for the Award remains people, innovation and processes that contribute to the sustainability of water resource and to highlight those organizations/NGOs/Corporate that have worked within the community to ensure the message of water use efficiency is primary in the mind of people, institutions, government & industries. It is the single largest get-together of water conscious entities. In the past the award has been conferred upon organizations like ONGC, ITC Limited, NHPC, ECOSAN, Ion Exchange, Pentair, Grundfos, Pepsico, Unilever, Philips, ITT, Padam Shri Bhanwar lal Jain etc. The award is judged by a jury from IIT, TERI, Wes-net & UNESCO. In terms of reach these awards reach to more than 15 million Indians. By way of award telecast on channels like NDTV & CNBC and it is covered as special feature in newspapers like The Times of India & Economic Times by way of publishing 13 editions across India with 4 million copies.
